MedImmune combine art and sound absorbing panel to reduce the noise in Cambridge

MedImmune near Cambridge develops, manufactures and markets formulations for use in immunisation programs. They have previously sought advice from Acoustic Comfort on various projects within their buildings on Granta Park and the latest project proved to be a real talking point amongst its staff.

It was felt that the breakout area adjacent to their busy café required some additional sound absorption to create a more comfortable environment in which to relax, it was also a chance to brighten up an otherwise plain area. With Acoustic Comfort’s ability to print high quality digital images onto its sound absorbing Reverb acoustic wall panelling the only problem was choosing a suitable image. This was overcome quite literally by incorporating hundreds of photos of staff and notable events in the company’s history into a stunning photomosaic of the company logo.

The Acoustic Comfort Reverb25 wall panel was installed late on a Friday afternoon to ensure that the ‘unveiling’ of the artwork occurred on a Monday morning to get the maximum impact. Not only has it helped provide a more comfortable acoustic environment, it has provided a real focal point within the space.
