Acoustic baffles solve problem of sound transfer at Golar

Golar LNG are one of the world’s largest independent owners and operators of liquefied natural gas carriers.

Their impressive offices at the top of 1 America Square offer fantastic views over London but suffered from poor acoustics in one particular part of the building. The hard surfaces and curved ceiling allowed conversations in the breakout area to be easily heard in the open plan office causing distraction.

Golar approached Acoustic Comfort to solve the problem but with the additional challenge of a solution that was in keeping with the interior design.

Acoustic Comfort installed three rows of four white 1200x600mm acoustic baffles suspended on stainless steel wires between the two separate areas. While the baffles absorb much of the sound generated in the breakout area ensuring that very little passes to the open plan area below, they maintain the feeling of space and most importantly do not interrupt the view.
